CLINTON — Clinton High School junior Aaron Graves first found out he’d scored a perfect 36 on the American College Test from his mom Cherye.
“When I got home, she was really excited,” he said. “She made me call all our family.”
The ACT is a curriculum and standards based tool that assesses students’ academic readiness for college. Students can take it multiple times, and it is administered to all Mississippi students in 11th grade.
Aaron joins an elite group of CHS students who have earned perfect scores – seniors Clark Hensley and juniors Kevin Zhang and Isaac Martinolich. He is also a member of the prestigious 30+ club (students who scored 30 or higher on the ACT).
“At CHS we work hard to prepare students to do well on the ACT because it can open a lot of doors for higher education,” said Principal Brett Robinson. “This equals free tuition at some schools and a lot of scholarship offers from others. Scoring well on the ACT can have real, tangible benefits for students.”
Aaron is the son of Cherye and Jonathan Graves. He isn’t sure yet what he wants to major in, but he is considering attending Vanderbilt University after graduating from CHS in 2020.
