CLINTON — Enrollment in Clinton’s public schools is holding steady at 5,300 for the 2018-19 school year.
“We were recently rated the No. 1 school district in the Jackson metro area, as well as the safest district and best place to teach,” said Dr. Tim Martin, superintendent of schools. “We are a great option for families who are serious about their children’s education, and we’re glad to see our enrollment at this level.”
CPSD’s enrollment has increased annually for a decade, from about 4,600 students in 2008 to more than 5,300 today.
Enrollment by school:
- Clinton Park Elementary: 747
- Northside Elementary: 813
- Eastside Elementary: 902
- Lovett Elementary: 443
- Clinton Junior High: 860
- Sumner Hill Junior High: 395
- Clinton High School: 1,151
Accommodating growth
With growth comes adjustment as schools work to accommodate the increasing student population. The school district recently passed a $25 million bond issue with 95 percent voter support.
The bond funds will allow the district to add much needed classroom space at Clinton Park, Eastside, Lovett, Clinton Junior High and Clinton High School and make numerous other upgrades district-wide.
“We set a high standard in our schools, and our faculty, staff and students rise to meet or exceed that standard,” Martin said. “As our enrollment continues to increase, we will continue to work at all levels to maintain that standard of excellence.”
