CLINTON — Students enrolling in Clinton’s public schools this fall can begin the online registration in the spring.
Only parents or guardians can register a child for school. Online registration for returning students will be accessed through the PowerSchool parent portal, as it was last spring. Parents need a PowerSchool account for each child enrolled in CPSD, and family accounts are linked for registration.
“In addition to viewing grades during the school year, PowerSchool gives parents access to the link for online registration when it’s available,” said Student Database Manager Sharon Tompkins.
Parents who do not currently have a PowerSchool account need to contact their child’s school and request one before the current school year ends. School contact information is available on www.clintonpublicschools.com.
Incoming kindergartners
Students entering kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year will have access to online registration beginning April 9. This is for incoming kindergartners ONLY.
The link will be posted on www.clintonpublicschools.com.
“To begin online registration, you’ll need to click on the link for 2018-19 Kindergarten Registration, follow the directions to create an account or log in to an existing account, and then enter the child’s information,” Tompkins said.
Parents need to also come to Clinton Park Elementary School from 4-7 p.m. April 17 to complete the registration process. Required registration documents are listed here: http://goo.gl/S4vNcY.
Returning Students
The returning student online registration will be available in mid-May. Parents will be notified via e-mail when the form is open, and pre-registration notifications will be posted on social media and in CPSD announcements.
“When you receive the email, you can log onto the PowerSchool parent portal and click on the 2018-19 Returning Student Registration link to complete the form for the upcoming school year,” Tompkins said.
Even if you don’t get the email, you can log onto PowerSchool and click the registration link to get started.
“Make sure you click the link for 2018-19 Registration,” she said.
Students new to CPSD
If your child is new to the Clinton Public School District, entering grades 1-12, you will be able to complete online registration for your child in mid-May. A link for New Student Registration will be posted on www.clintonpublicschools.com.
After clicking the link, parents will be prompted to create an account and begin the registration process.
“The online registration process takes the place of filling out all the paperwork for each child when school starts,” Tompkins said. “It does not take the place of on-site registration or residency requirements. Parents must submit residency paperwork each year.”
CPSD accepts residency documents during the summer in order to make the registration process easier in the fall; however, families new to CPSD must submit residency information in August.
To meet the residency requirement, parents or guardians must provide two proofs of residency.
These can include ONE of the following:
- Mortgage document
- Lease agreement listing all occupants and expiration date
- Homestead exemption form
- Deed
AND
One of the following:
- Electric, gas or water bill dated within the past three months
- Car tag registration
