Breakfast and Lunch prices and information for 2023-2024
July 27, 2023
Clinton Public School District is pleased to announce that there will be no increase in meal prices for SY 2023-2024.
"Our child nutrition program is a self-supporting operation. The revenue we use to operate comes from the funds we receive from paying students, adults, and federal reimbursement for eligible meals," said Christen Hicks, Child Nutrition Director.
CPSD's child nutrition program is governed by the United States Department of Agriculture. Districts are required to charge students and adults an amount that covers the cost of producing meals. This requirement stems from the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 for schools participating in the School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs.
CPSD meals are priced as follows:
- Student lunch - $2.85 (full price), $0.40 (reduced price)
- Student breakfast - $1. 90 (full price), $0.30 (reduced price)
- Adult/Teacher lunch - $3.60 per meal
- Adult/Teacher breakfast - $2.25 per meal
Lunch includes an entree, bread, servings of fruit and vegetables and milk.
Dr. Keba Laird, Child Nutrition Supervisor stated, "For an affordable price, our students receive a nutritious, delicious, and well-balanced meal." She added, "Each day, our students receive the necessary calories and nutrients needed for their growth and development. Parents are assured that their kids are getting a good, hot and safe meal each day."
For families experiencing temporary financial hardship, Hicks stated "parents can apply at any time during the year for free or reduced-price meals." She continued, "There are applications at every school, in most school offices, and cafeterias. For even more convenience, parents may also apply online."
Through My School Bucks, parents can pay in advance for student meals. "This has been one of the most convenient ways to pay either weekly, monthly or yearly," said Hicks. "You can also go on the website and monitor your child's eating and/or spending."
Lunch menus, the online free and reduced-price meal application, and links to My School Bucks are available on the district's website, www.clintonpublicschools.com. For more information, contact the CPSD Department of Child Nutrition at (601) 924-4002.
