Clinton Campuses Improve Air Quality through Ionization Technology
When students return to campus for the 2021-2022 school year, the air they breathe will be intentionally cleaner in their classrooms thanks to cutting edge technology.
Over the summer, Star Services installed 560 Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization Technology devices throughout each of the district’s eight campuses and Central Office.
These energy efficient devices from Global Plasma Solutions uses ionization technology to naturally eliminate 99% of airborne pathogens like the norovirus, mold and SARS-CoV-2 to improve indoor air quality.
Clinton Public School District’s Facilities Director Bo Barksdale said these new devices will assist in providing a healthy place for students to learn.
“For years, we’ve made indoor air quality a top priority in the Clinton Public School District through regular preventative maintenance checks and services on all of our heating and cooling units,” Barksdale said. “These bipolar ionization devices add another layer of protection for our indoor air quality.”
The 560 devices were paid for out of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds, or ESSER.
Barksdale said that since these funds were provided by the federal government, the district was able to move quickly on the installation process.
“We were able to take on this project sooner rather than later without having to use building funds, saving the district money,” Barksdale said. “What’s even better is the project was started and completed before the start of school in August.”
