Clinton AD earns state's first NIAAA Certified Master Athletic Administrator designation
The Mississippi Athletic Administrators Association and the Mississippi High School Activities Association are proud to announce that Brian Fortenberry of Clinton High School has recently earned our state's first NIAAA Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) designations.
The certification is based on the premises of continuing education, professional growth and program development in the vocation of interscholastic athletic administration. The attainment of professional certification demonstrates the completion of a comprehensive plan for self-improvement that will enhance the ability of the athletic administrator to better serve the school, community and profession."
Brian Fortenberry serves as the Athletic Director for the Clinton Public School District. Brian received his Bachelor of Arts in May of 2000, his Master of Education in 2011, and his Education Specialist in 2014, all from Mississippi College.
Brian began his career at Canton Academy in 2001, serving as an assistant coach in basketball, football, and baseball, and then serving as head boys’ basketball coach during the 2002-2003 school year. In 2003 he accepted a position at Clinton High School where he taught English and assisted head boys basketball coach, Bruce Robinson. Brian moved to Birmingham in 2007 with his family where he taught English and served as head boys’ basketball coach at Pelham High School from 2007-2009. He then returned to Clinton with his family in 2009, where he taught English at Clinton High School and coached the Clinton Junior High boys’ basketball team until 2012. He began working in administration in 2012, serving as assistant principal at Clinton Junior High, then as assistant principal at Clinton High School. Brian accepted the role of Athletic Director for the Clinton Public School District in 2017. He earned his CAA designation in 2019.
Brian lives in Clinton with his wife, Susan, and four children, Grayson, Ellen Claire, Emily, and Caleb.
