CPSD Child Nutrition Director named state Director of the Year
Clinton Public School’s Director of Child Nutrition Christell Hicks has been named as the Mississippi School Nutrition Association’s Director of the Year.
Hicks has been part of child nutrition for 16 years, serving in various forms across the state.
She has served as the Clinton Public School District’s Child Nutrition Director since 2017 and was recently MSNA’s acting president.
“Mrs. Hicks is very worthy of this award,” Clinton’s Superintendent Dr. Tim Martin said.
“She sets the example that everyone in the child nutrition department follows, and she embodies the district’s vision of ‘Excellence is the Only Option’ on a daily basis.”
Each year, members of the MSNA nominate their peers for the Director of the Year award who meet the criteria for the honor.
The MSNA will recognized Hicks during its annual conference.
State award winners are honored during the Red Carpet Ceremony at the School Nutrition Association’s Annual National Conference. However, due to the national COVD-19 pandemic, the event was canceled. Honorees will be recognized in a special digital edition of the SN Magazine.
Dr. Martin added the award reflects positively on the dedication of the entire child nutrition department who distributed lunches weekly to students and parents while school was out due to the pandemic.
