CLINTON — For Clinton Junior High School Assistant Principal Drew Wardlaw, it’s about making sure every student knows someone cares.
“I have a room full of boys who absolutely adore Mr. Wardlaw and so do the students in Mrs. Carol Ann Franklin’s class,” said CJHS special education teacher Kacy Parks. “He makes a point to speak to each of them each morning and any time we see him during the day. Our students light up when he walks in the room because they know he truly cares about them.”
His words and actions have not gone unnoticed; Wardlaw is the recipient of the Dedication of Our Valued Employees — or DOVE — customer service award for the month of October.
He was nominated by Parks who said he calls each of her students by name and is always ready for a fist bump, a high five or a bear hug.
“I’ve seen him interact with regular education students in a similar manner,” she said. “No matter how busy he is, he always makes time for our students at CJHS.”
The DOVE Award is given to one CPSD employee per month who demonstrates excellence in customer service. The award is based on nominations from the public.
Wardlaw will be recognized at the November school board meeting, planned for Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Central Office.
“One of our top priorities as a school district is customer service, and we appreciate employees like Mr. Wardlaw who are making a difference in the lives of the students we serve,” said Dr. Tim Martin, superintendent of schools.
