State Superintendent visits CPSD
State Superintendent of Education Dr. Carey Wright on Wednesday visited the Clinton Public School District as part of the 2019 Celebration of Excellence tour of A-rated districts. CPSD's overall score this year is 729, up nearly 20 points from last year's 711. It is the third-highest scoring school district in Mississippi and the highest achieving in the Jackson metro area.
During her visit to Northside & Eastside Elementary, Dr. Wright praised Clinton's supportive community, highly qualified teachers, involved parents and high-achieving students. She was greeted by members of the Clinton High School band and cheer squad and several second- through fifth-grade classes. Other speakers included CPSD Superintendent Tim Martin, school principals Mandy Ambrose and Mandy Taylor, Mississippi House Education Committee Chairman Richard Bennett, and Clinton resident and Speaker of the House Philip Gunn.
