CLINTON — Despite heavy rains this summer and fall, construction projects at Clinton schools are still progressing.
Funds from the 2018 bond issue are being used to construct new Career and Technical Education facilities on the main campus of Clinton High School, and also renovations to Clinton Junior High.
“Work is currently behind schedule but the contractors have time to make it up in their schedule,” said James “Bo” Barksdale, the Clinton Public School District’s facilities director.
The work at Clinton High School is expected to be substantially complete in August 2020, and work at CJHS is expected to be substantially complete in July 2020.
Also under way is fencing at the CJHS football and practice fields.
“A six-foot chain link fence will be installed around the old football field complex in the next month or so, and a brick column wrought iron fence is currently being installed around the small soccer practice field,” Barksdale said. “This work should be completed by the end of September.”
Plans are moving forward also for Clinton Park and Lovett Elementary. The work at Clinton Park includes a cafeteria expansion and the addition of four classrooms. At Lovett, the scope of work includes improvements to the front of the building, traffic flow improvements, four new classrooms and renovations to the restrooms.
The Lovett and Clinton Park projects are expected to begin in October with an expected completion in December 2020.
