CLINTON — Percussion Director Gavin McAdams is the Clinton Public School District’s interim band director.
McAdams replaces Kevin Welborn, who announced this summer he’s accepted a position at the University of Alabama.
“We were sad to see Mr. Welborn go, but Mr. McAdams brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role and he’s highly respected by our students, parents and other directors,” said Dr. Tim Martin, superintendent of schools.
McAdams joined the CPSD faculty last year to serve as an assistant band director overseeing percussion. Prior to this he was the band director at Pass Christian High School.
A Kosciusko native, he holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in music education, both from the University of Southern Mississippi.
“Our band program has grown tremendously in recent years and our students perform at a very high caliber,” Martin said. “We’re looking forward to keeping that momentum going under Mr. McAdams’ leadership and building on this success.”
