CLINTON — Bus driver Jimmy Creel enjoys greeting the children as they board the bus.
“He greets the children with a ‘Good morning’ and if they don’t respond he repeats himself, making sure to get an answer from each child,” said parent Cynthia Senior. “He goes above and beyond his job description. I’d imagine being a bus driver is a challenging task, but he handles it with pride, confidence and he’s a pure blessing to all he encounters.”
Creel is the recipient of the Clinton Public School District’s Dedication of Our Valued Employees, or DOVE, customer service award for the month of September. He will be recognized at the school board meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Central Office.
“He looks out for all the children and always is in a good mood and has a smile and tells the kids to have a good day,” said parent Paula Arrington, in nominating Creel for the award. “He goes out of his way to be polite to parents and children.”
Parent Amanda Carpenter said her children have been riding Mr. Jimmy’s bus for seven years.
“For so many years, Mr. Jimmy has been nothing but kind and respectful of parents and students,” she said. “He is the same on the bus as he is in Kroger. He truly cares. I am honored to have my kids go to the best school district imaginable. Mr. Jimmy sets the bar very high for all other bus drivers everywhere.”
The DOVE Award is given each month during the school year to an employee who goes above and beyond in showing customer service to students, parents and the community. A five-member DOVE award selection committee chooses each winner from a pool of nominations.
Anyone can nominate a CPSD employee via the online form on www.clintonpublicschools.com. DOVE Award recipients will be formally recognized at school board meetings, on district announcements and in The Clinton Courier.
