CPSD has 18 Scholar Teams

CLINTON — All varsity sports in Clinton’s public schools had a composite grade point average of at least 2.8.


Eighteen of Clinton High School’s varsity teams have earned “scholar team” designation from the Mississippi High School Activities Association with a composite GPA of 3.0 or higher.


“I would like to congratulate all of these programs, and I would also like to thank all coaches who continue to emphasize the importance of our student-athlete’s education,” said Athletic Director Brian Fortenberry.


CPSD’s scholar teams include:


-       Archery

-       Baseball

-       Bowling – Girls

-       Bowling – Boys

-       Cheer

-       Cross Country – Girls

-       Cross Country – Boys

-       Fastpitch Softball

-       Golf – Girls

-       Golf – Boys

-       Soccer – Girls

-       Soccer – Boys

-       Slowpitch Softball

-       Swim – Girls

-       Swim – Boys

-       Tennis – Girls

-       Tennis – Boys

-       Volleyball


Junior varsity teams are not eligible to receive the award. Each of the scholar teams will receive a certificate from MHSAA.


“CPSD has long been known for its academic achievement, and we’re proud of our scholar-athletes who are carrying on that tradition,” said Dr. Tim Martin, superintendent.
