During its August board meeting, the Mississippi Department of Education released state test proficiency scores and rankings for Mississippi public school districts.

Clinton’s cohort of third grade students ranked 5th in mathematics across the Magnolia State.

Northside’s principal Mandy Ambrose said keeping the math scores in the top five is an accomplishment that reflects the passion and dedication of the teachers towards their students.

“Our teachers understand that these test scores are the result of meaningful learning, not the goal itself,” Ambrose said. “They see each student as an individual, meet them where they are and then challenge and support them to reach their fullest potential." 

Ambrose added that high student achievement at Northside is a product of academic teachers as well as support staff, interventionists and activity teachers. 

“Our teachers and staff work together to know our students, believe in them, and give them the support and encouragement they need to be their best,” she said. “These scores are a reflection of that collective commitment, and I couldn't be more proud of the Northside team.”
