Clinton Public School District

The Clinton Public School District successfully completed the Mississippi School Gas Pipe Testing as required by state law prior to the start of the school year.

With the passage of HB1186 in the 2025 Legislative Session and SB2787 in the 2026 Legislative Session, all public, private and charter schools are to conduct annual testing of all natural gas lines inside each facility prior to the start of the academic year, beginning in January 2027. 

Demonstrating a proactive approach to student and facility safety, CPSD began testing its natural gas lines at the start of the 2025-2026 school year, a full year before the law's mandate took effect, and addressed all necessary maintenance areas ahead of schedule.

Clinton Public School District superintendent Dr. Andy Schoggin praised the district’s facilities and maintenance team for their steadfast commitment to ensuring world-class facilities are provided for students, the first goal of CPSD’s strategic plan.

“Our facilities and maintenance team did a fantastic job of prioritizing and following through on the requirements of these legislations and the provisions set for K-12 schools,” Dr. Schoggin said. “By taking early action, they ensured our campuses are safe and fully compliant well before the deadline, showing true dedication to our students and staff.”

Daniel Forde, Business Development Manager for the Mississippi Division of Atmos, hand delivered an Atmos Smart Choice for Schools Program rebate check from Atmos to Dr. Andy Schoggin along with the news that CPSD is the first educational institution, public or private, to receive a rebate.
