Each year, the Mississippi Department of Education releases administrative costs for each school district across the state.

School districts are required to keep administrative costs under a cap of 5% of the district’s total operating budget. The State average percent of total administrative costs is 3.32%.

The Clinton Public School District’s total administrative costs for the for the current school year equate to 2.58%, a 4% decrease from the previous year.

“As stewards of the tax dollars for our community, our obligation is clear—prioritize student success by keeping administrative costs lean and efficient,” CPSD superintendent Dr. Andy Schoggin said.

“By ensuring that resources are directed to the building and classroom levels,” he added, “we stay true to the mission of the Clinton Public School District and the commitment to excellence.”

These numbers show the Clinton Public School District as having the 27th lowest administrative costs out of over 144 school districts across the state.

Administration costs include expenditures for salaries and fringe benefits paid for central administration costs from all sources of revenue as defined in the Mississippi Public School District Financial Accounting Manual.

The Mississippi State Auditor ensures that functions in all expenditure categories to which this administrative limitation applies are properly classified.
