Clinton Public School District

Students from Clinton High School and Sumner Hill recently represented the Arrows at the Mississippi Model United Nations Conference. This youth leadership conference gathers students from across Mississippi to participate in three days of debates and discussions about global issues facing the world today.
Each student selects a country to represent and drafts a proposal to address a global concern. Many student delegates also argue a World Court Case before the Justices of the International Court of Justice.
Three Clinton students served as officers for the 2026 Mississippi Model United Nations, with Cheyenne Murray serving as Economic & Social Council President, Legend Gavin serving as ICJ Chief Justice, Steven Hernandez serving as ICJ Asst. Chief Justice, and Gina Robinson serving as Secretary General.
The Clinton Arrow delegates received numerous awards for their outstanding performance at the conference and had many of their Proposals passed by the General Assembly, the Economic & Social Council as well as the Security Council.
The Delegation Award was given to students that demonstrated excellent leadership within their delegation. Receiving this award for Clinton High School was De’Syri Addison and Gina Robinson. For Sumner Hill, Rosepreet Ghotra and Havish Kumar received the Delegation Award.
Delegates to the Mississippi Model United Nations are encouraged to dress in clothing that represents their selected country and to create a Country Display to help educate other delegates about their country. Sumner Hill students Issie Bulger, Wadah Aramin and Sabreen Abbas received the Most Outstanding Native Attire award while Sumner Hill students Rosepreet Ghotra, Havish Kumar, and David Carcamo received the Festival of Nations Award for having the most outstanding country display.
A key aspect of the Mississippi Model United Nations is that students must debate world issues from the point of view of their selected country. This helps them to understand the culture, politics and global standing of other countries around the world and how those countries related to the United States.
Havish Kumar and Rosepreet Ghotra received Outstanding Country Representation for their roles as delegates from India, while Cullen Lay and Greer Vincent received the top honor of Most Outstanding Country Representation as delegates from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The award recognizes the delegate that not only excels in debate but also truly exemplifies that qualities of servant leadership. This year’s award was won by Clinton High School senior Cullen Lay.
In addition to winning numerous awards, several Clinton Arrows campaigned for office while attending the conference.
