Clinton Public School District

Clinton ACCENT teachers recently attended the Mississippi Association of Gifted Children (MAGC) conference in Vicksburg centering on “Building Mississippi Legends through Gifted Education.”
The event allowed teachers of gifted students an opportunity to grow in their field as well as provided a parent night where Clinton parents attended.
Northside ACCENT teacher Kayla Quick served as president-elect during the previous year and was named MAGC President for the current year.
Several of Clinton’s gifted teachers were awarded grants during the conference.
Fifth grade ACCENT teacher DeMarla Fox was awarded the 2025 Conrad Castle Grant, a $400 grant.
Northside ACCENT teacher Elizabeth Wilson and Eastside ACCENT teacher Kristen Mullins were both awarded the 2025 Carol Paola New Teacher Grant given to teachers new to the gifted program.
Eastside ACCENT teacher Toni Stubbs led a break out session entitled “Sketchnotes, a Playground for Ideas.” Her original design was chosen as this year’s conference’s poster and t-shirt.
Sixth grade ACCENT students created centerpieces for 50 tables focused on famous Mississippians. Under the direction of ACCENT teachers Jessica Cline and Felicia Hudson, their students strengthened their research and communication skills to construct these creative centerpieces.
Fifth-grader Lydia Krason and third-grader Lizzie Dotson were both awarded the Elizabeth Mosley Scholarship allowing them to attend a camp of their choice this past summer with Krason attending the New Stage Theater Camp and Dotson attending Camp Invention.
The Elizabeth Mosley Scholarship was named after former ACCENT student Elizabeth Mosley. To be considered for this scholarship, students must submit an original essay explaining why they would choose to attend their preferred camp and must have a teacher recommendation.
