Welcome

  • Economics & AP Macroeconomics

Welcome to a class that can change the way you look at the world.  That's a pretty bold claim, but Economics is no ordinary course.  Despite it's reputation as the dreary or dismal science, Economics is filled with lessons to help you understand the inner workings of our economy as well as how your individual daily decisions fit into the great scheme of things.

As with anything else, what you get OUT of Economics is directly related  to the effort you put INTO Economics.

I ask 3 things of you:
    (1)  Be here.  You will not get the full Economics experience if you are not present.
    (2)  Ask questions and get help.  You're not in this alone!  You will have a partner in class, a class full of students in the same boat as you, and a teacher committed to your success.
    (3)  Do Something.  Don't close your mind to the potential of Economics.  If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!  All of the help available to you (see #2) is useless if you are not trying.  Receive the gift; it's yours for the taking.

In return, I promise 3 things:
    (1) I will be here.
    (2) I will ask questions and offer help.
    (3) I will give my best and "try" every day.

    Let's have a great semester!

Mrs. Charlotte Walker

My name is Charlotte Hilderbrand Walker, and I teach Economics and AP Macroeconomics.

The 2017-2018 school year is #26 for me, and I am proud to say that  I have been a loyal Arrow for 25-1/2 of those years plus student teaching.  I enthusiastically approach each school day and believe in bell-to-bell, Monday-to-Friday learning and activity. The new technology and opportunities for learning presented to us this year are exciting, and I am eager to meet the challenges these changes bring to our learning experiences.

I graduated with a B.S. and M.Ed. from USM in Secondary Social Studies Curriculum and Instruction, and I am certified by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards.  Additionally, I am certified as a Master Teacher of Economics, a Master Teacher of Entrepreneurship, and recognized by the College Board as an Advanced Plaement qualified teacher.  Over the years at CHS, I have taught Psychology, Sociology, Geography, US History, World History, Government, and Law-Related Education as well as Economics and AP Macroeconomics.  I love what I teach, and I hope that my enthusiasm shows in our daily interactions in the classroom as well as the activities and assignments that I plan.

I'm looking forward to a great year!  Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] if you have comments, ideas, or questions.
