Transportation
We are excited for the opportunity to provide transportation services for your student during the upcoming school year. The purpose of this letter is to outline important transportation expectations and procedures to help ensure a safe and efficient experience for all students.
Please remember that school buses are required to stop at all railroad crossings and follow all traffic regulations. Drivers are required to signal students when it is safe to cross in front of the bus. Students should never cross the street until they receive direct instruction from the driver. Each year, preventable accidents occur because students fail to follow proper safety procedures while entering or exiting the bus.
To improve communication and transportation efficiency, the Remind messaging system will no longer be used. Instead, parents are encouraged to download the Zonar App for real-time updates regarding bus routes, schedules, and transportation notifications. Please note that routes may be adjusted throughout the school year as needed. To use the Zonar App you will need your student(s) number, bus route
number, and CPSD school code (CLI3627).
Bus routing will generally remain similar to last year; however, some modifications have been made to improve efficiency and reduce ride times. Routes have been updated to better accommodate driver shortages and ongoing road construction throughout the district. The Transportation Department has made every effort to ensure routes are completed within the required timeframes. As a result, some students may experience changes to bus stop locations or pickup and drop-off times.
Elementary routes will operate between 6:00 a.m. and 7:05 a.m. Middle school routes will operate between 6:45 a.m. and 8:05 a.m., and High School routes will operate between 7:45 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. Please note that students may ride different buses depending on grade level and route assignments.
For the safety of all students, please observe the following guidelines:
- Students must remain at least 10–15 feet away from the loading area until the bus comes to a complete stop.
- Students who are late for the bus should not run to the loading area. Once the bus is being loaded, drivers are tasked with monitoring the loading process. Students who are not at the loading area when the bus arrives will need to be transported to school by a parent.
- Drivers are required to report unsafe behavior or violations of bus safety procedures. Serious or repeated violations may result in disciplinary action.
Please be advised that the district will strictly enforce all transportation safety policies. Students who violate safety rules may lose bus riding privileges. In addition, students who are unable to follow district transportation expectations may not be permitted to participate in extracurricular transportation or school-related travel. If a student creates a significant safety concern, the Transportation Department may remove the student from bus service pending administrative review.

Welcome to Clinton Public Schools Transportation! Our Transportation Department provide students with transportation needs. We are usually the first and the last District representatives that many students experience and we are gladly to accept this responsibility.
The Transportation Department serves 132 square miles with 90 regular routes and 3 special needs routes. More than 3,500 students rely on the department for daily service to/from their home. We have 81 CDL/MDE certified drivers - 42 assigned to regular routes, 3 to special needs routes, and 39 available for athletics, activities/field trips, and route substitutes.
The Transportation Department hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for a lunch break which is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., mechanics are on duty before and after these hours.
