    We Love It At Lovett!
Welcome to Lovett Elementary! I am Dr. Michael Pope and I am the principal here at Lovett. I graduated from Clinton High School in 1995. I have been working in the Clinton Public School District since 2000. I earned a bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis in social studies from Delta State University in 2000.  I later went on to earn a master's degree in education leadership, an Education Specialist degree in leadership, and my doctorate in educational leadership with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction, all from Mississippi College. I taught Advanced World History and Biblical History at CHS for 6 years, and then was Assistant Principal at Clinton Junior High School for another 6 years. I then became principal here at Lovett in 2012. My wife and I have two children in the Clinton Public School District.  We are members of First Baptist Church Clinton.

The highly qualified Lovett faculty and staff are committed to a standard of excellence in teaching and learning. Reaching and maintaining an "A" status according to the school accountability ratings is one of our most important goals. We are also focused on school and student safety, and strive to protect and nurture all of our students.  Another goal is to prepare our students for the 7th grade using the Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards. We also hope to build strong relationships with parents and other community members to ensure a positive educational experience for all of our students. Please feel free to contact me by email or phone if you have any questions or concerns. I have an open-door policy and no appointments are necessary.
