SPECIAL EVENTS

M & F BANKING - Students get to learn about banking first hand through the innovative project brought to Lovett by M & F Bank. Students are given the opportunity to open their own personal savings account with an initial $5.00 deposit and to make additional deposits each month here at our Lovett banking center. Representatives from M & F, as well as volunteer Lovett tellers, make this a terrific way for students to begin a life-long habit of saving. The banking days are included on the Lovett calendar of events. Our thanks to Mr. Broadstreet and his staff!

LOVETT NIGHTS AT SUBWAY - Mr. Robert Abraham has taken another great Clinton school under his wing as our second school adopter. There will be nights throughout the school year when we will encourage EVERYONE to come out between certain hours and have a terrific meal at Subway, meet with friends, and help our school raise money for special projects.

Man to Man Breakfast - This is a time set aside for the young men of Lovett to bring their fathers, grandfathers, brothers, uncles, or any significant male in their lives to school with them to eat breakfast. A motivational speaker addresses the group during the breakfast. This takes place sometime during the fall of the year. (Watch the school calendar for exact date and time).

Woman to Woman Breakfast - This is a time set aside for the young ladies of Lovett to bring their mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, or any significant female in their lives to school with them to eat breakfast. A speaker motivates the girls to be the best that they can be. This takes place during the spring of the year. (Watch the school calendar for exact date and time.)

Red Ribbon Week - Lovett's drug education program is active throughout the year. However, the highlights of the year are Red Ribbon Week in the fall and Be Smart Week during the spring. Lovett is decorated with red ribbons and banners to acknowledge drug awareness. High school members from SADD and mothers from MADD come to share their thoughts and experiences with sixth graders. Students write pledges and make banners expressing their support of drug-free lives. Activities culminate with students doing "heart healthy" physical activities as a reminder that being smart means taking care of our bodies as well as our minds.
