The joy of reading and the knowledge of how to use library resources, both print and non-print, are lifelong skills that students should acquire or enhance while at Lovett. To that end, the library is open and available to students at any time throughout the school day. Students may check out two books at a time for a one week period. Subject area projects will bring students into the library for reference work.
Reading Renaissance is a nationally known reading motivation program available to Lovett students. Encouraging reading, improving reading skills, and improving performance in all subjects are by-products of successful use of the program. Participation is encouraged but not required.

RESOURCES:
Mississippi Alliance for Gaining New Opportunities through Library Information Access or MAGNOLIA offers students on-line reference resources at all public schools and public libraries and also at home. Lovett students will find a wealth of information including encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, thesaurus, newspaper and magazine articles, maps, general reference, biographical information and more. We are fortunate to have these databases available to us and we should all thank the Mississippi Legislature for funding this project that can be accessed by visiting this website: http://library.msstate.edu/magnolia. This link will take you to the MAGNOLIA homepage. Click on ACCESS RESOURCES FROM HOME COMPUTER. The username to enter and the password, if any of the databases require one, is magn0897.
Another valuable resource for after-school hours is the public library. We encourage students to get a library card and use their resources. From home, Lovett students may access the catalog of the holdings of all of the libraries in the Jackson-Hinds Library System or get reference help on-line.
