SENIOR INFORMATION SHEET
(Read Monday, May 5, 2008)
All senior
homeroom teachers should read this information sheet and go over this
information
with students. (Keep or post as a
reminder).
ANNOUNCEMENTS
AND DEADLINES
1. Be sure to pay all
fines before Friday, May 16 — NO DIPLOMA!
2. Turn in all textbooks and pay any fines due
on these.
3. Cap and Gown --ONLY CASH WILL BE
ACCEPTED--Bring the correct amount
to speed up
distribution. Rental
fee on gown — $30.00; purchase of NHS stole, $14.00.
PICKUP DATE — Tuesday, May 13, during lunch
period in the auditorium. If you do not
graduate, the
rental fee will be refunded.
4. If you are not going to graduate, you will be
notified by
5. Once you have completed required work on
campus, DO NOT COME BACK ON CAMPUS
to stroll the
halls and visit. If you are on campus,
you are subject to disciplinary action.
6. Exemptions will be announced on Friday, May 16.
7. If you are not scheduled to graduate, you
will continue all classes as scheduled.
If are not
present, you will
be considered TRUANT and subject to disciplinary action.
8. Students
are reminded of the Awards Program on Friday, May 16 at
CHS Auditorium. If
your parents received an invitation to the program, please attend
since you will be recognized in some way. A list will be posted on Thursday, May 15,
including the
names of all students being recognized.
Please be seated at the left front as
you face the
stage, so you can receive your award as quickly as possible. If you are NHS,
you will be
seated in alphabetical order ON THE STAGE BEFORE THE PROGRAM
BEGINS AT
GRADUATION
PRACTICE AND GRADUATION CEREMONY
1. Graduation practice will be Friday, May 23,
at
at MC. Report directly to MC--do not come on the CHS
campus.
2. Please be prompt to begin practice--plan on
about 2 hours. Your cooperation
is important.
3. If partying is on your agenda--wait until
after graduation.
4. If you need your robe for baccalaureate after
graduation, contact RM Hendrick or Ms.
Garriga.
5. Please make all pictures with family and
friends prior to the exercise and return
your cap and gown
to the classroom at the south end of the Coliseum—
IMMEDIATELY. Your homeroom teacher will be there to
collect the cap and
gown--KEEP THE
TASSEL.
6. A professional photographer will be taking
pictures IF YOU TURNED IN YOUR
ENVELOPE!
DRESS FOR GRADUATION
1. Girls should wear a dress under your robe.
2. Boys should wear a light colored shirt,
tie, and shoes (not sandals) and dress pants,
not jeans.
3. The tassel should be worn on the LEFT side as
you march in. After Dr. Henderson
confers the high school degree on all
seniors, switch the tassel to the RIGHT side
as a group.
4. Caps should be worn so that the mortar board
is parallel to the floor.
IT’S ALMOST
TIME!
1. The audience will be standing for the
processional. After you march in, remain
standing for the
invocation. Be seated after the
invocation for the addresses,
remarks,
etc. BOYS should remove caps for both
prayers.
2. At the appropriate time on the program,
seniors will be asked to come forward and
receive their
diplomas. At that time you will stand BY
ROWS and approach the
platform. When you return to your position, remain
standing until everyone on
your row is back,
then be seated as a group. Two ushers
will be there to assist you.
3. Stand for the conferring of degrees; remain
standing for the benediction.
CONGRATULATIONS!
1. At practice you will be given a particular
seating arrangement, and you will line up
in that order at

3. Admission for guests will be with tickets
ONLY. However, there are no reserved
seats, so seating
will be on a first come, first serve basis--tell your parents to
come early for
the best seats. We are asking all
guests to be seated by
4. The program has a printed request that all
applause be withheld until all diplomas
have been
awarded, please set the example. Also,
ask parents, relatives, and
friends to help
make this a dignified occasion.
