About Northside

Northside is the second school in the Clinton Public School District.  It is home to our second and third grade students.  We have 16 second grade teachers and 15 third grade teachers.  The average class consists of about 23 students.  At Northside we believe in promoting the positive as well as teaching the whole child.  Our students cover all the basic subjects of Reading, Language, Math, Science, Health, and Social Studies.  They also attend special activities everyday to promote physical development and social skills.  These special activities are physical education, music, art, and library. Northside also has several programs to encourage learning, good behavior, and a sense of belonging.

Programs at Northside

ACCENT
Accent is the name of our gifted program.  We have three fabulous teachers for this program.  This class is for students who excel in regular class studies and would like to be challenged.

The Good Citizen Program
Being named "Good Citizen" at Northside is a big deal!  This means that the child has followed all rules and set an example to his or her peers of what it means to be a good citizen.  This year we will pick one student each six weeks to be named the good citizen.  We will also have a good citizen for the year that will be chosen in May.  Our Good Citizen Program is sponsored by Subway of Clinton.  Each child that is chosen will take part in a party where they receive a cookie, coke, award, and pin.

The Newcomers' Club
The Newcomers' Club is for all students that are new to the Clinton District.  This is a special club that gets together during the first part of the year with our school counselor.  She takes the time to talk with the group about fears they may have or questions they need answered.

AR
AR is a reading program that our second and third grades use.  The program encourages students to read books that are on their level.  When they have finished the book they are able to take a quiz.  When they pass a quiz, they earn points.  The points  count  towards their AR goal.  Each student has a different goal designated by their teacher.  When the student earns enough points they will reach an AR Point Club.  Prizes are given when a new club is reached.  An AR List is linked below if you would like to see which books are AR books.  Our local library is very good about having AR books.
